FAQs
There is an urgent need for new homes in East Suffolk. Lowestoft is the largest built-up area in the district and a key area for future growth.
What is an outline planning application?
We are proposing to submit an outline planning application with all matters reserved except for access.
An outline application is used to establish whether the principle of a development is acceptable, without fixing detailed design elements at this stage. It typically secures the overall development parameters and key infrastructure.
Further “Reserved Matters” applications will be required to agree details such as appearance, landscaping, layout, and scale. These applications will also be subject to further consultation and review.
When will you be submitting the outline planning application?
We are aiming to submit the outline planning application to East Suffolk Council in Autumn 2026, following engagement with the local community and key stakeholders to help refine the proposals.
How can I view the planning application once it has been submitted to the council?
Once the application has been submitted to East Suffolk Council, you will be able to view it, along with all supporting technical reports, on Suffolk Council website:
